How do I get to The Glass Works?

The Glass Works is right in the heart of Barnsley Town Centre. Situated next to Barnsley Interchange, we are easy to get to by bus or train. Visit the Travel South Yorkshire website for times.

The Glass Works car park has 475 standard bays, 20 parent and child bays, 28 free disabled bays available to Blue Badge holders, and 6EV charging bays, there is more than enough room for everyone’s needs. The car park is open 24 hours, For Sat nav users, follow S70 1SF to the customer car park.

To claim your free parking with your Blue Badge, drive to the exit barrier as normal, contact the security control room via the intercom on the ticket machine, quote your blue badge number and the barriers will be lifted.

How much does it cost to park?

Monday – Friday:
7am to 5pm: £2 for up to 3 hours then 50p per 30 mins.
5pm to 7am: FREE

Saturday – Sunday:
7am to 5pm: FREE for up 3 hours then 50p per 30 mins
5pm to 7am: FREE

The Glass Works car park has 28 free disabled bays available to Blue Badge holders. There is no time limit on parking.

Is there parent and child parking spaces at The Glass Works?

The Glass Works car park has 20 parent and child bays.

Does The Glass Works have electric car charging points?

The Glass Works Car park has 6EV charging bays.

Is it free parking when visiting Cineworld at the Glass Works?

Cineworld customers are entitled to 5 hours of free parking. Simply ask a member of Cineworld staff behind the counter to validate your parking ticket and you can park for completely free for the duration of the latest blockbuster.

Please note – operating times may differ for each vendor.

What days and times does the Market open?

Barnsley Market is open from 8.30-4pm Monday – Saturday. Please note there is no outdoor market on Thursday.

When is the Glass Works open?

The Glass Works main operating times are 9am-6pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sundays. Individual store times may vary.

Where do I go if I need help during my visit to The Glass Works?

At the Glass Works we pride ourselves on the customer service we provide. From our friendly security team based on the boulevard and public square, to our markets team located at our customer service desk. We also work closely with the town centre wardens and police to ensure everyone feels safe and welcome whilst visiting.

Are there toilets at The Glass Works or Barnsley Markets?

Customer toilets are located in the Glass Works lobby, in the market atrium and first floor of the Market and Market Kitchen.

Are there any baby change facilities at the Glass Works?

Baby change facilities are located in the Glass Works lobby, in the market atrium and first floor of the Market and Market Kitchen.

Are there accessible toilets and changing facilities at the Glass Works?

Accessible toilets are located in the Market atrium, the first floor of the Market and in Market Kitchen. Accessible toilets and a wet room facility is also available in the Glass Works lobby.

Where is NHS Diagnostic Centre located?

The NHS Diagnostic Centre is situated on the main boulevard of the Glass Works, near 200 Degree and the entrance on Cheapside. Access to the Centre is by appointment only.

Does The Glass Works have a cash machine?

The cash machine is located near the entrance to Barnsley Markets on May Day Green.

Where can I rent a wheelchair or mobility scooter?

Visitors can rent mobility scooters and wheelchairs from Age UK situated on Eldon Street. You will need to register with them to access this service.

Where do I purchase merchandise for the Markets?

Barnsley Markets merchandise can be purchased from the customer service desk, located at the May Day Green entrance. Payment is card only.

Is there public WI-FI in the Glassworks?

There is free Wifi available, you just need to create a login when you connect.

Can I reserve a table in Market Kitchen?

Tables can’t be reserved, however, we do have some private dining rooms available. Please email – markets@barnsley.gov.uk or visit the Customer Service Desk for more information
