BARNSLEY BRIGHT NIGHTS RETURNS THIS NOVEMBER TO WELCOME THE START OF THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD AT THE GLASS WORKS.
Prepare for two nights of light, art, entertainment and festive cheer on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November.
Bright Nights 2024 prepares to excite with three main parts: The Barnsley Carol Giant Projection, the Illuminated Light Parade and the Light Art Trail.
BARNSLEY CAROL GIANT PROJECTION
Based on the Barnsley Christmas Carol, a giant projection will light up The Glass Works Square across the weekend, with live performances from Barnsley Singers.
The Barnsley Carol was written by Barnsley bottle maker Arthur Godfrey ‘Christmas Eve’ follows in a centuries old South Yorkshire carolling tradition.
Showing every 30 minutes between 5pm and 8.30pm on Friday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, with live singers on the Friday night.
ILLUMINATED LIGHT PARADE
On Saturday 23 November see the Illuminated Parade starring the amazing inflatable Strobilophones. The illuminated procession will feature colourful hand-crafted lanterns, music and community groups as they journey through the town centre.
Experience the Strobilophones, a work of illuminated street theatre featuring inflatable puppets, singers and dancers bringing colour and joy. Rave on the streets to Disco Bike Dancers, spot the soaring Birds of Play and witness the mythical Eldon Street Beast for one final time.
The parade will start on Midland Street (near Barnsley Interchange) before weaving its way down Eldon Street and Queen Street before finishing in The Glass Works Square.
The parade will start at 6.30pm on Saturday 23rd November.

Explore the town centre and discover interactive installations at Barnsley Civic, Barnsley College, Cooper Gallery, Library @ the Lightbox, Alhambra Shopping Centre and more.
