July 20, 2023
SUMMER HAS ARRIVED IN BARNSLEY, WHETHER YOU WANT TO SHOP, DINE, OR PLAY, IT’S ALL HERE IN ONE PLACE. YOUR FUN-FILLED, STYLISH SUMMER, CREATED BY THE GLASS WORKS.
As schools break up and the sun comes out, there’s fun to be had with the family, holidays to prepare for, friends to catch-up with, and memories to be made, and it’s all created by The Glass Works.
Summer should always be full of fun, whether the sun is shining or not! And this year there is endless opportunities to make memories with friends and family at The Glass Works Barnsley.
PLAY
As always at The Glass Works, there are some fantastic free, family-friendly events taking place over summer for visitors to enjoy. The Joining Forces Summer Show returns on Thursday 10 August, with a range of emergency services bringing some of their current vehicles and equipment, as well as a range of classic cars, ambulances and more from years gone by. The day will be a perfect chance to meet some of Barnsley’s local heroes whilst also experiencing some of their fun activities from South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire Service, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and many more.
Summer means one thing in the world of cinema… the biggest blockbusters! And there is nowhere better to experience them than Cineworld Barnsley! Barbie, Oppenheimer, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Elemental, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Meg 2 are all being release throughout the summer holidays. Experience these incredible releases in 4DX, the immersive experience that stimulates all five senses, IMAX, the best picture and sound quality in cinema, and SCREEN X, the 270-degree screen that transports you into the film like nothing else.
Even though we all hope for beaming sunshine all summer long, that isn’t always the case in Barnsley. Luckily that’s where Superbowl UK comes in. With their fantastic deals on bowling, Crazy Club soft play, SEGA amusement arcade, bar and diner, it really is the UK ultimate family entertainment centre. During the summer holidays, don’t miss their Striking Summer deal which includes a game of bowling, a hotdog and fries each for four people, or the Kidz for Quids offer where a game of bowling is just £1 per child and £2 per adult before 10am during the school holidays.
September sees our first Barnsley Garden party event, which is organised in collaboration with Barnsley Civic. On Friday 24 and Saturday 25 September, The Glass Works Square and Mandela Gardens will be alive with some of the UK’s leading and most exciting outdoor performances, and the whole weekend is completely free to attend.
