The Summer Joining Forces Day Promises a Fun-Filled Family Day at The Glass Works Barnsley
July 28, 2023
Your fun-filled summer continues on Thursday 10 August at The Glass Works with the Joining Forces Summer Show. From 10am-3pm, we’ll be welcoming a range of public services to The Glass Works Square, Peel Square and Cheapside for a fun and interactive day with the chance to meet some of Barnsley’s local heroes whilst also experiencing some of their fun activities.
The day will feature a range of emergency vehicles and personnel, as well as a whole host of activities and tasters so you can learn more about the vital work that our emergency services do every day.
You will be able to experience what it is like to sit in the back of a real police car and van with South Yorkshire Police and see inside the back of a South Yorkshire Ambulance while learning about the basics of CPR, and small skill training sessions such as controlling bleeding, attaching slings, and putting people into the recovery position.
Barnsley town centres parkour experts Nova City, who are based just a few minutes from The Glass Works, will be returning for demonstrations and lessons throughout the day on their parkour blocks and anything else they can find to jump on!
There will also be entertainment from the fantastic Rock Choir at 12pm in The Glass Works Square. The 50-person choir, who are well known around South Yorkshire, sing classics from Coldplay, George Michael, Aretha Franklin and more.
Also returning will be the giant climbing wall, located in its usual position outside Cineworld. Scale the heights and test your nerve on the 10ft wall.
If you prefer to keep your feet a little closer to the ground, then there will also be a great range of information and engagement stands from, services, businesses and charities from around Barnsley including Barnsley College, More Money in Your Pocket, Barnsley Museums, Yorkshire Rose Coaches and many more.
