Barnsley town centre continues to rip up the decline of the high street script after another high street name opened its doors as part of The Glass Works this week – one of 12 businesses to open in the wider town centre since the start of October.
Coffee Boy opened for businesses on Monday 16 December, joining JD Sports which became first retailer to open as part of The Glass Works at the start of October.
Coffee Boy – a modern take on the traditional coffee shop – sells specialist coffee, teas, cold drinks, breakfasts, paninis, pizza and a range of cakes and ice cream. Its Glass Works store is its first in Barnsley.
David Shepherd, Service Director for Economic Regeneration and Culture at Barnsley Council, said:
“It’s great to see a fantastic range of new businesses opening in Barnsley as we head towards Christmas.
“The Glass Works and wider town centre is going from strength to strength as we edge towards 2020. 2019 has been a brilliant year and it’s ending on a high as we close the year out.
“All of these new businesses – both national chains and independent – are key to our town centre’s growth, particularly the food and drink outlets which have completely transformed Barnsley’s evening and night-time scene.”
