FANG-TASTIC BARNSLEY GETS IN HALF TERM HALLOWEEN SPIRIT
October 15, 2021
Half term in Barnsley is set to be fang-tastic as the town centre gets in the Halloween spirit.
During half term (October 25-31), The Glass Works, Barnsley Museums, Cooper Gallery, Barnsley Libraries, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars are joining forces to make the town centre a terrifically spooktacular place to visit, offering a thrilling programme of free and low-cost family activities.
The famous Barnsley Markets will be trimmed up for the occasion and Market Kitchen will be serving up an array of Halloween-themed tasty treats and delicious desserts. While Trick and Treat – a pair of freakishly funny phantoms – will be performing their walkabout show in the town centre on Saturday 30 October (performances at 11am, 1pm and 2pm).
The main event is the FREE Spooktacular Town Trail that focusses around The Glass Works. Running throughout half-term week (October 25-31), visitors who take part in the trail will be entered into a prize draw to win a Barnsley Gift Card worth £250.
If you wish to take part, you can collect a trail card from the Customer Service Desk in Barnsley Markets (near the May Day Green entrance) and visit the various locations around the town centre listed on the card.
Halloween inspired pictures can be found in the windows of nine venues, including the Library @ the Lightbox, Barnsley Markets, TK Maxx and The Alhambra. Once you have completed the trail and answered all the questions on your card, simply post it in the letterbox in Barnsley Markets – and the winner will be notified by email.
Elsewhere in the town centre, Experience Barnsley is holding a Mystery at the Museum event on October 29 and 30. The interactive storytelling session involves young visitors finding clues to help solve a spooky mystery. Tickets are £2 and booking is essential.
Families can also get prepped for their own Halloween celebrations with an array of spook-tacular craft sessions taking place at the Library @ the Lightbox from 25 October. Click here for times and dates.
In addition to the Halloween festivities, Barnsley’s newest leisure venue, Superbowl UK, opened today in The Glass Works – meaning there’s somewhere new to take the family during half term even if the weather lets us down.
