A moment to discover and explore
The Barnsley Museum cultural units, Digital, Discover, and Gallery, opened last month and give visitors of all ages a fun, interactive and diverse experience celebrating the past, present, and future of Barnsley.
Experience the touchline of Oakwell and the moors of the Peak District through VR headsets and 360 films in Digital. In Discover, celebrate all of Barnsley from its heritage and outdoors to art and sport through fun interactive games, selfies spots and table football. Gallery is an exhibition and art space with an exciting programme of events including everything from sculptures, art and even Lego!
The perfect way to explore more of The Glass Works and the surrounding town centre with your little ones this Christmas is by participating in the Barnsley Christmas Trail! 12 cheeky elves are hiding in shops across The Glass Works and town centre, and we need your help finding them so they can make it home for Christmas!
When you find a shop that’s hiding an elf, pop inside and find the elf and write down their name on your trail card. When you have found all the names, completed your trail card, and submitted it, you could be I with a chance of winning a Barnsley Gift Card worth £10. With over £1200 worth of Barnsley Gift Cards up for grabs, there is a great chance of winning, as well as having lots of fun!

Don’t miss the fantastic live festive music coming to The Glass Works Square this December. The perfect mid-shopping entertainment!
Featuring local bands to orchestras, brass bands to ensembles, the ‘festive festival’ will be live in Barnsley’s newest public space every Saturday in December from 10:30am -3:15pm. Click here for the full details and line-up.
Please note: following the Government’s announcement about ‘Plan B’ Covid restrictions, we are pleased to say that the Brass Band performances will still be going ahead on the 11th and 18th December. However, we will encourage crowds to remain social distanced, sanitise and wear masks where possible to help protect the health of our staff, performers, and members of the public.
Make moments for the whole family this Christmas at Superbowl UK. There is entertainment for all ages from the SEGA amusement arcade and Crazy Club soft play area, the late-night bowling, bar and diner!

The newest addition to The Glass Works is Caffe Botanico. Their Mediterranean café serves everything from freshly ground coffee and tasty, sweet desserts to healthy salads and artisan sandwiches. They specialise in creating a relaxing atmosphere perfect for meeting friends, catching up with a loved one, or simply taking a well-deserved break from Christmas shopping!
Take your Christmas meal night to the next level at Falco Lounge! Their Christmas party menu runs throughout December, providing the perfect destination for getting out of the cold and getting in the festive spirit. From coffees to cocktails, pizza to poutine, Indian to ice cream and everything in between, enjoy food and drink from around the world at 12 mouth-watering options, including the Cucina Sky Lounge. Step out into the cold on the rooftop terrace, where you have the best view of the Christmas lights in The Glass Works Square!

Available from Monday 6th December, Cucina Sky Lounge is serving its Christmas cocktail menu! Raise a glass or two from the limited-time menu which includes, Frosty the Snowman, Espresso Chocolate Bomb, Gingerbread White Russain, Alpine Chocolate Orange and Christmas ‘Porn Star’. The fabulous Dolly’s Desserts are also bringing the festive spirit with their Christmas specials. First up is their mince pie cookie dough, served with strawberries and chocolate sauce, this is sure to be a hit, even with those who are not fond of mince pies!
And returning this year is the incredible Christmas Fondue Box, perfect for those cosy winter nights. The box includes FOUR different types of chocolate sauce, brownies, marshmallows, doughnuts, waffles and more. There is more than enough tasty festive goodness in each box to feed four, and they are available for pre-order any Friday and Saturday in the lead up to Christmas. A moment to find the perfect gift
The Glass Works are happy to announce that there will be extended opening times for several stores over the Christmas period, so you can get your late-night shopping fix and find those last-minute presents!
With Deichmann and TK Maxx open late every day in December, Next and The Fragrance Shop open late every Thursday and Friday, and extended shopping hours across every store from Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd December, there has never been a better time to leave your shopping until the last minute!
The historic Barnsley Market has you covered for all your Christmas needs. Whether you want to send the perfect card, get festive Christmas wrapping paper, get your fresh produce for your Christmas dinner, or find enough decorations to cover Buckingham Palace, you can find everything you need with Barnsley Market’s 80+ experienced traders!
The Glass Works new multi-storey car park is the most accessible and convenient place to park throughout December. Free parking after 5pm means you can take advantage of the late-night shopping available, as well as parking in the ideal location to enjoy the whole of The Glass Works and town centre.
There are 475 spaces, 20 parent and child bays, 28 free disabled bays available to Blue Badge holders, and 6EV parking bays, all open 24 hours a day.
