Barnsley Bright Nights to Light-up The Glass Works

Barnsley Bright Nights is back, and this year it will be illuminating The Glass Works with its incredible array of events, installations and arts activities.
From Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th November, The Glass Works will be transformed with the switching on of the Christmas lights, while playing host to some of the most incredible events and installations of the Bright Nights weekend.
As well as the excitement of Bright Nights, discover the other opportunities to shop, dine, play and learn at The Glass Works during the event and beyond.

If you are in the mood to get some of your Christmas shopping done early, good news, all our shops will be extending their opening hours over Bright Nights. So whether it’s a new fragrance for your partner, a new outfit so you can dress to impress at the Christmas party, or you are just wanting to treat yourself on Black Friday, check out the full list of shops below:

PLAY
The opening night of Bright Nights also sees the opening of three brand new cultural units in The Glass Works, courtesy of the Barnsley Museum.
Firstly, there is the Barnsley Museum unit which celebrates the borough’s past, present and future. With fun interactive games, selfie spots, a mini football table and exciting objects on every wall, there is opportunities for exploration and discovery at every turn.
Second up, the Barnsley Museum Digital unit offers state-of-the-art digital experiences through Virtual Reality Headsets, 3D printers, 360-degree film and more. Be immersed in Barnsley’s rich culture, history and landscapes, and be transported from Oakwell to the Peak District with the 360-degree film.
And finally, the Barnsley Museums Gallery unit is a spectacular space which will be showcasing art exhibitions, sculptures and Lego displays! An exciting programme of displays are planned, so there is always something new to discover.
If that wasn’t enough excitement, why not visit Superbowl UK, the UK’s ultimate family entertainment centre? Be bowled over by their 12-lane bowling alley, get your game on with the SEGA Amusement Arcade, let the little ones run wild in the Crazy Club soft play, and recharge at their stylish lounge bar and diner! From 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays experience the magic of Glow Bowling, to really get into the Bright Nights spirit.

The Library @ The Light Box is also getting involved in the Bright Night festivities. They will be hosting a number of creative art activities which will be perfect for your little ones! There is SeedHeart, a brand-new puppet show telling the important tale of human impact on the environment, as well as several other events such as Makey Crafts, Bright Nights Story Time, a Neon Silent Disco and Bright Nights Viewpoint Photography. If you need to warm up from the cold November air, then Coffee Boy will also be extending their opening hours until 7pm, serving coffees, teas, hot chocolates and plenty of winter treats to help beat that winter chill!
Or if it is food and drinks you are after, the incredible range of tasty cuisines from around the world in Market Kitchen will mean there is something for everyone! From stone-baked Neapolitan style Pizza, to traditional Canadian Poutine, it is the perfect place to re-fuel with food and a cocktail from Cucina Sky Lounge. Market Kitchen will be open until 11pm on the Friday and Saturday, so there is nowhere better to visit after the excitement of Bright Nights.
As always, the big, bright and beautiful Falco Lounge will be open from 9am until Midnight right across Bright Nights, serving their ever-popular range of tapas, burgers, cocktails and more!

PARKING
The Glass Works car park is the easiest and most convenient place to park over Bright Nights weekend, and it is also the cheapest! Free parking after 3pm every day means you can save money on parking every night of Bright Nights. There are 475 spaces, 20 parent and child bays, 28 free disabled bays available to Blue Badge holders and 6EV parking bays, all open 24 hours a day.
